He put his hand in his pocket. When he touched it, the reality of the bracelet swept out everything else; he felt as he had felt when the liquid metal had poured through the space before him. I brought you a present, Lillian. He did not know that he stood straight and that the gesture of his arm was that of a returning crusader offering his trophy to his love, when he dropped a small chain of metal into her lap. Lillian Rearden picked it up, hooked on the tips of two straight fingers, and raised it to the light. The links were heavy, crudely made, the shining metal had an odd tinge, it was greenish-blue.Whats that? she asked. The first thing made from the first heat of the first order of Rearden Metal. You mean, she said, its fully as valuable as a piece of railroad rails?

Best-of-Breathtaking Basket : The Chappell Adoption

The Basket : and all the amazing things that could be yours - I’m too excited about the Anthropologie

While living in Texas for some short time, I met the Nichols family. I quickly  fell in love with their heart for adoption. (I look forward to adding all sorts of lovely children to my family someday). Adoption is so many things, and I love the physical, very real picture it paints of our adoption by Christ cf Ephesians.

Another thing adoption is: expensive. Casey Nichols Chappell and her husband Dan have decided to adopt 2 babies from the Congo. The Chappells have a story of a tried and true faith, and God has blessed them abundantly. It’s fun to watch - even over the Internet miles away.

To help curb the cost Casey is doing “Best-of-Baskets”

Here’s the whole story, about their most recent decision to adopt.

I’ve been waiting for one of my favorite baskets, so I can go all out, and you vintage-loving followers can join in!

“All you have to do to is enter your name into a drawing for this basket when you make a donation of $5 towards our Congo Adoption. For every $5 we will put your name on the list…. so,  $10 we will put your name on twice… $25 five times… and so forth. I will do a videotaped recording of the random choosing of one of the entries and will announce it on the blog and/or contact you through email or facebook.  I will then pack up all the goodies and send it your way to enjoy!!!

After you donate  (for each $5 you get an additional entry into the list of names for the drawing for the basket!) post something about this on Facebook or Twitter and we’ll add your name again to the list.  Just be sure to tag me (Casey Nichols Chappell) in your status on FB and/or use the hashtag #congobestofbasket in your Twitter post. (that’s the only way I’ll know to add you again)

Adoption is about community. And what a great way to know you’re a small part of helping to build an intensely loving family who seeks Christ at each turn life brings them.
